When things start going wrong, when sales are dropping and expenses are rising, emotions increase and cash decreases. Things can get very emotional. Add family members into this mix and you have the perfect storm.
Most businesses have been doing the same thing for years making a profit and they don’t know how to change and adapt to the changes. Denial comes in and takes over. (i.e. :”The internet is not going to affect our business.”)
Besides knowing what changes need to be made, I bring a calmness to the situation by removing the emotional element from what is happening. Why do I do this? To give hope to those going through this transition. There are management accountants out there that can help you. Just make sure they are management accountants not tax accountants. There is a difference. The skill sets are different and you need management accountant skills to turn a business around.
